EID-UL-ADHA 2020
Eid is the 3-days long holy event that celebrates with the religious harmony throughout the world of Muslims. Not only once but celebrated twice in a single year.
And the second Eid event is named Eid Ul Adha also called the “sacrifice feast” which starts on the 10th of the holy month of Zul Hijjah, according to the Islamic lunar calendar, and considered the more sacred of the two from Eid UL Fitr, the first Eid’s event of the Islamic year.
History of Eid Ul Adha
Eid Ul Adha is celebrated in honor of Hadhrat Ibrahim (AS) when he presented his only son, Hazrat Ismail (AS), before ALLAH to sacrifice in HIS name.
Right before the sacrificing of his only son, ALLAH sent Hazrat Gabriel (AS) who put the sheep in place of Hazrat Ismail (AS) to offer sacrifice.
And since then this sacrificing ritual is followed by the Muslims slaughtering the animals in the name of ALLAH. And in remembrance of the courageous sacrifice of Hadhrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son, Hazrat Ismail (AS), who did not attempt to react for a second when his father said he’d sacrifice him in the name of the merciful, ALLAH.
How Eid Ul Adha is celebrated
On the day of Eid Ul Adha, the first obligation is to gather in the grand mosque to offer the prayer of Eid Ul Adha. It is the mandatory part as it then initiates the celebration of Eid Ul Azha.
Then after the prayers, the second part is to sacrifice the animals (goats, sheep, cows, and camels) in the name of ALLAH and for HIS happiness, and of course in remembrance of Hadhrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
The sacrificing part is not compulsory for everyone. It is for those who can afford. But for those who did not do sacrifice, it is the essential duty of the people who made the sacrifice to remember them and distribute the meat to such families.
With this act of kindness, ALLAH is more happy with HIS mankind.
